Major Components


The following components are to be installed by the VNO
and/or his partners at every site and are defined as VNO PoP:

  • A satellite dish and transceiver
  • A DVB-RCS satellite router
  • The VNO PoP and any additional network equipment, for example WiFi or cable distribution, the VNO Partner may elect to deploy at the local site are defined as user segment

On the management and transmission control platform reside at the central hub site. This hub consists of:

  • An RF system including dish and cabling
  • A DVB-RCS Hub providing DVB encapsulation, multiplexing, QoS and acceleration
  • An IP core system for routing and switching
  • A management server suite
  • An Edge router for accessing the Internet backbone
  • UPS and backup systems
